Last Lecture Series Starts Wednesday
We'll be kicking off the second annual and extremely popular Last Lecture Series this Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. Last Lecture Series is your chance, whether for the first time or the last, to hear some of the most popular and well-known professors on campus speak about interesting topics. This week, Professor Andrew Barry will be giving a talk entitled "Darwin and You." The location is TBA, but keep the time clear on your calendars!
Senior Gift 2011 is Live
It's official, 2011: the Senior Gift campaign has launched! Every year, more than 30,000 Harvard alumni and seniors give back to Harvard, recognizing that their support is essential to the undergraduate experience and Harvard's financial aid initiatives. What is Senior Gift all about? Check out the official 2011 Senior Gift video to learn more. Start your tradition of giving today by visiting alumni.harvard.edu/seniorgift to give, and be on the lookout for more information from the Senior Gift 2011 Team!!
Champagne Brunch on Sunday
Get excited for the widely-celebrated senior event you've been waiting for all year: the annual Champagne Brunch in Annenberg on Sunday! Reminisce with your freshman entryway about how much you didn't know when you first came to school, how your dorm oddly became infested with scabies, what it was like seeing tourists outside your windows while getting dressed every morning, or how hard you worked to win the Yard Bucket. Please come at your freshman dorm's designated time: Straus, Matthews, Grays, Massachusetts Hall, Hollis, and Thayer are at 11:00 a.m.; Weld, Wigglesworth, Greenough, Hurlbut, Apley Court, and transfer/off-cycle students are at 12:00 p.m., and Lionel, Mower, Stoughton, Holworthy, Canaday, and Pennypacker are at 1:00 p.m.
Class Day Oration and Ode Selection
We are still looking for members of the Class of 2011 to address the 10,000+ family and friends on Class Day in Harvard Yard on May 25. There are two speech categories: Harvard Orations (thoughtful and reflective) and Ivy Orations (funny and witty). A male and female senior will be chosen for each of the two categories. In addition, we are looking for someone to write the Class Ode, which will consist of two verses to be sung to the tune of Fair Harvard on Class Day. Finally, we are still seeking nominations for the Ames Award, which will be presented to a female and a male senior who have shown extraordinary courage and leadership. To submit a speech, ode, or Ames Award nomination, please go to the Class Day site. All submissions are due by noon on Wednesday, April 13th.
Weekly Outing: Putt-Putt Golf
This week's Weekly Outing will be putt-putt golf (for free!) Saturday afternoon in Allston. If you're interested, sign up here and we'll send you more details later in the week.
Discounted Tickets for Seniors to The Donkey Show
Because so many of you have expressed interest in attending The Donkey Show, we have decided to lottery off 40 $15 tickets to the 7:30 p.m. show this Saturday night! Don't forget to enter the lottery here if you haven't already. The lottery will close Thursday at 5 p.m., and we will make the results available later that evening.
Senior Bars Tomorrow, Wednesday, and Saturday
Tomorrow night, we'll be having Senior Bar at John Harvard's from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. On Wednesday, there will be another Senior Bar at Tommy Doyle's from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., and we'll be venturing into Boston on Saturday for yet another! Keep an eye out for an email from your House Reps with more details about Saturday, but all three Senior Bars this week will count for Last Senior Standing, so make sure to check in between 10 p.m. and midnight at each. Congratulations to Janice He for being the 2011th person to check in!
